Our corporate Dragon Boat Race – Saturday 13th May 2017, 9.30am to 3pm, @ Fairland’s Valley Lakes, Six Hills Way, Stevenage, Herts, SG2 0BL

Poster: Stevenage Dragon Boat Race – 13th May 2017

We have joined forces with Challenge Central to run our Dragon Boat Race. It is the ultimate team building experience and would also be a great way to raise you company’s profile. It is also a lot of fun and there are medals to be won, with teams/companies competing against each other and absolutely no experience is required!

At the start of the day (9.30am) there will be a draw to decide the order of races. Shortly after, there will be a safety briefing and a quick lesson on the best way to row and work as a team. Racing will commence after that with a break in the early afternoon for lunch. There is a café and a barbeque available for food and drink to be purchased. Races involve teams paddling furiously to the beat of their drummer, whilst a professional helmsman makes sure each boat steers true. At first teams complete the 150m course in a series of heats, with the fastest teams progressing to the knock-out rounds of the competition. At the end of the competition (2.30pm) there is an award ceremony.

Each boat costs £250 and can accommodate up to 10 rowers and 1 drummer (2 people on standby recommended). Boats need to be secured in advance via the Challenge Central website: www.challengecentral.co.uk/dragon-boat-racing. Team members then collect sponsorship for The Living Room Hertfordshire, by setting up their own sponsorship page through our Virgin Money Giving page, or using our paper sponsorship form: the-living-room-herts-sponsorship-form-doc
